On January 6, 1993, Hatgangopara Degree College was established by the initiative of the existent President of Governing Body, Advocate Md Ebrahim Hossain, and with the full co-operation of the local people, at Hatgangopara of Auchpara Union of Bagmara Upazila of Rajshahi District, on the banks of the Compo River and beside the paca road connecting the Upazila and District Headquarters. The college is an institution for Higher Secondary and Graduation Education. First recognized at Higher Secondary level in January 1995 and Graduation level in February 2001. The college became MPO at higher secondary level in March, 1998 and graduate level in April, 2002. Since its inception, the institution has been conducting co-educational (together) activities. The institution continues to play an important role in the field of education. The institution's role in promoting women's education deserves praise. The contribution of the institution in social, economic and political fields is undeniable. Advocate Md Ebrahim Hossain,
Son of Late Mohammad Ali of Barigram is an Intellectual, Lawyer, Social
Worker and Political Person. Born on 31 October 1951 at Barigram of
Shubhodanga Union of Bagmara Upazila, Rajshahi District. Had
education at Hatgangopara Primary School, Hatgangopara junior High
School, Bhawaniganj Government High School, Rajshahi Government
College and at Rajshahi University. He took part in Historical Mass
movement in 1969 and Liberation war in 1971. Obtained B.A (Hons) M.A
in Political Science and L.LB from Rajshahi University. During 1976 - 78
Served as Lecturer in Mohanpur Degree College, Rajshahi. Joined
Rajshahi Advocate Bar Association in 1978. He was elected as vice
President, General Secretary and President of Advocate Bar Association,
Rajshahi. He is Founder of many educational institutions including,
Barigram government primary School, Gangopara Girls High School,
Ruhia Mamudpur High School, Hatgangopara Degree College. He was
elected president, Managing committee Hat gangopara High School
from 1976 till 2024 several times and also secretary, president and one
of the founder of Barigram Dakhil madrasah. He is also founder president
of Barigram Sahitya Bhabon and Shikkha songho,a big library and cultural
Institution at Hat gangopara. He was also Syndicate member of Rajshahi
University.
